Our charities

Because we believe that everything is better and more beautiful when you share it, we donate part of our profit to charities. Namely a shelter in Bali for underprivileged children of single parents and a Dutch foundation that restores afforestation in West Africa.

SHELTER FOR UNDERPRIVILEGED CHILDREN ON BALI

At the end of each year we donate part of our profit to a childcare center in Bali for orphans and children of single parents, where the children receive after-school care, food, medical care and extra education. Children who have a financial sponsor can go to school during the day. After school, the daycare center itself offers additional courses such as English and music lessons. This way even the children without a sponsor can get a basic education.

We are moved by the amount of attention and love the children receive in this shelter. The children get mental support and the feeling of a family in this safe place. Birthdays are celebrated, the children laugh, play together and cook together. When we are in Bali, we always stop by to play with the kids and share some cookies, and occasionally give an English lesson. The shelter is a special and inspiring initiative and we are very proud and grateful to be able to support it with Taj.

PLANTING TREES IN WEST AFRICA

The Tree of Life initiative is a Dutch project that restores the afforestation of West Africa, one tree at a time. And that is incredibly necessary. The clearing in West African Togo - and the rest of the world - is not only sad, but unacceptable and even dangerous. Worldwide, an entire football field of trees disappears every two seconds: a disaster for both humans and animals, the biodiversity of our planet and a major risk for climate change. Did you know that twelve percent of all CO2 emissions caused by humanity comes from deforestation? According to Greenpeace, that is more than the CO2 emissions of all traffic combined.

By supporting Tree of Life, we try to contribute to the restoration of our forests. The forests that were there before us humans, and that will be there long after we disappear again. If we want to continue to exist, we will have to love nature more, take care of her and stand up for her. As environmental organization Conservation International puts it so nicely: “Nature does not need people. People need nature.”
